Turkey's Creative Youth Turns 'Residuals' into Sculptures


Known for the importance it attaches to sustainability and environmental studies, Istanbul Airport is organizing the 'Sculpture from Waste' competition this year with the perspective of achieving the zero waste goal and evaluating the waste material through upcycling.


Known for being the largest airport in the world, Istanbul Airport is coming together with university students with the 'From Waste to Sculpture' competition this year, following the 'From Waste to Art' project, which was launched in 2019 under the name ARTWIST.
 
The primary purpose of the project by İGA; It was determined as the development of circular economy awareness in order to reach the zero waste target, and the other aim was to provide socio-economic benefits for the vulnerable groups.
 
The condition for participation in the 'Sculpture from Leftovers' competition was determined as the application of those studying in a bachelor's, master's or art proficiency program in one of the departments of fine arts, architecture, design and art faculties of universities in Turkey.
 
 
The deadline for the ARTWIST 2021 National Competition from Waste to Sculpture is November 5, 2021.
