UN Security Council Calls on Taliban to Create a Safe Exit in Afghanistan.

The UN Security Council called on Monday to facilitate safe passage for all people, especially women and children, who want to leave Afghanistan, to allow humanitarian aid to reach Afghanistan and to ensure the protection of human rights.

Apart from China and Russia, which are permanent members of the 15 ambassadors in the Security Council, 13 countries voted in favor of the resolution demanding that Afghanistan not be used as a haven for terrorism.

Countries have condemned in the strongest terms the explosions at Kabul Airport on Thursday that killed more than 150 people.

Emphasizing how dire the situation is, the ambassadors of the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Russia and China said that what is happening in Afghanistan is inhumane and called for the Taliban to fulfill their commitment this week to allow Afghans to leave the country at any time.

The United States said it had evacuated more than 122,000 Americans, foreign nationals, and at-risk Afghan nationals since July.
