UN Chief, Before the Food Systems Preliminary Summit, said 'Farmers are the Lifeblood of Our Food Systems'.

UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed met with female producers at a farmers' market in Rome's Circo Massimo on Saturday ahead of the Food Systems Preliminary Summit, which will take place next week, and said that farmers, especially women and locals, are working tirelessly to put food on our table.

United Nations and government officials met with the manufacturers at the stands set up near the venue where the event will take place. The three-day Food Systems Preliminary Summit, attended by delegates from more than 100 countries, kicked off on Monday, July 26, to present evidence-based and scientific approaches and launch a series of new commitments through coalitions of action.

The important facts to be discussed at the meeting are; hunger, climate change and biodiversity loss, poverty, food loss and waste.

In addition, Elizabeth Nsimadala, President of Pan-African Farmers' Organizations (PAFO), stated that women entrepreneurs and agricultural workers are being held back due to lack of information.
